My term 4 reflection

Term 4 Reflection What have you enjoyed the most this term and why? I have enjoyed the mystery celebration because it made me curious on what kind of perk I get in every sticker. I have enjoyed mosaicing in Impact because all of our hard work on gluing them on paid off. I have enjoyed swimming because I have been learning how to do backstroke without a board. What has been challenging this term and why? Mosaicing was quite challenging because we ran out of tiles in the final bit, and I keep on getting cuts from the sharp bits. I found swimming challenging because sometimes I forget to blow bubbles so I get a headache. Athletics was very challenging because I had to pick up a pace in the 800 metres run. What are you looking forward to next year? Camp because it will be my first camp and it will be thrilling.

My Homework Progress

Image
My Homework Challenge Progress 📖Plan: I was planning to mosaic with a milk bottle. At first it was hard because every time I spun the wheely chair, I kept on bumping it so I have to start again. I had to overcome that challenge  by using a chair that doesn’t spin. I’m still planning to add to it. 📓Idea: ⇨Outcome: ◕ Progress: I got my milk bottle and washed it. I got my scissors and cut random shapes from my milk bottle. I placed the pieces to my circle foam board to make my letters and shapes. I got some of my marbles to put on as tips and etc. I got my hot glue gun and glued my pieces on.
Labour Day In New Zealand, Labour Day is a public holiday held on the fourth Monday in October. It’s traced back to the eight-hour working day movement that arose in the newly founded Wellington colony in 1840, because of Samuel Parnell not wanting to work more than eight hours a day. He encouraged other people to also work for only eight hours a day and in October 1840, a workers' meeting passed a resolution supporting the idea. On 28 October 1890, the 50th anniversary of the eight-hour day was commemorated with a parade. In 1899 government legislated that the day will be a public holiday from 1900. The day was celebrated on different days in different towns. This led to ship owners complaining that seamen were taking too many holidays by having one Labour Day in one port then another in their next port. In 1910, the government declared that the holiday would be observed on the same day throughout the country. Of course, my sister and I thought about something silly to d
The Learning in The Making Conference ‘16 Friday was The Learning in The Making Conference. The school has it every year so students have an opportunity to learn something new from other people too. My favorite workshop was the paracord wristband one because I learned how to make them and I used resilience on starting because I was confused with the starting knot then, I watched Mrs. Blunden do the knots, so I did the same thing she did then I succeeded. I also got teamwork skills from team building because we had hard puzzles. My favorite puzzle was the Simpsons puzzle and we were supposed to cross the river. But I had to stay because I had to be with Marge because I was Maggie. Lisa(Summer) had to stay with Marge too. Our team lost because the other team cheated. We still had fun, though.
My Holiday Recount My holiday was not the best holiday, but it wasn’t the worst one either. On the first Friday, we went to Hamilton and were there for the whole day. My favourite part was when we got Shopkins in one of the stores. My least favourite part was when we went to Bed, Bath and Beyond because there were chairs everywhere and I was tempted to sit in them. Then on Monday, we went to Dress smart. My two favourite parts were that there were lots of cool stuff and cotton candy. I think the worst part was when we had to walk everywhere and it was tiring.
Term 3 Reflection What have you enjoyed the most this term and why? I have enjoyed the Whetu Choir the most this term because we all get to sing together. I have enjoyed Impact meetings and how Impact replaces writing meetings because we don’t have to worry about having  different group meetings in a week. I think I really like handwriting every Monday and Tuesday because we get to practice our handwriting skills. What has been challenging this term and why? It’s been challenging how my Impact group is doing mosaic and how we need to do a mock up before the tile mosaic. Handwriting is very challenging because we have to: slope, flick and do proper sizing. So far, having meetings every day is very challenging because I don’t have a no meeting day. What are you looking forward to next term and why? Next term I am looking forward to starting our impact project like starting our tile mosaic, because it sounds really exciting to find out how much teamwork we
My Impact I’m in the Whetu art area group. In our Impact project we are up to making a mock up mosaic for the wall. We have accomplished planning what we’re doing. We have been planning to make a mosaic in the wall, do a fold up table and do a chalk board wall. What we need to be doing next would probably be finishing the mock up mosaic so we can start our tile mosaic. I’m enjoying our mock up designing so far. I am certainly enjoying everything we’ve been doing. Our aim for our impact is to do our mosaic on the wall.

I got the idea from a tv show. The girl’s seat/footstool opens up for storage. Dad helped me with rounding the inside. He also helped fill in the holes. First, I shaped the polystyrene, when I painted the polystyrene, I put tape to make sure it doesn’t muck up the stripe. To make sure the ottoman opens and closes, I put two sticks on the sides and I put holes where the sticks are going to go. I  think the end project was nice and simple. I also think it was useful. I loved Alexa’s cake because it had real frosting and real berries.
Cross country I was glad that I wasn’t last in the 9 year olds race. I felt really nervous because I was thinking I’m last. But turns out, there were 4 more girls behind me. I was really happy because everyone was cheering for me in the end. I think if it wasn’t for my training I would've been last. If I got through HP, my goals would be to get to TV, and win ribbons.
My Speech Reflection What is your speech about? Why did you choose this topic? Was it easy or hard to write and research your topic?  Why?  Did you change your topic?  Why? How are you feeling about presenting your speech to your home room? What do you think is the hardest part of presenting and writing a speech?r This is basically just like an interview about my speech. 0r kind of like a behind the scenes. My speech is about “Are Zoos a Good Place For Animals? I chose this topic because I feel like people don’t know how animals feel. It was hard to write my speech because I had to research about how animals felt about the zoo. I also had to watch a few National Geographic videos to see how other people treat the animals. I did not change my topic because I was sure that my topic won’t be too hard or easy for me. I think presenting my speech to my whole homeroom because I am very shy and nervous about presenting my speech. I think presenting and writing my sp

Goals

My Goals What are your Numeracy and Literacy goals for the term? What other goals do you have? Are you on track to achieve your goals? What do you need to do achieve your goals? What has been your favourite part of the year so far and what are you looking forward to this term? My numeracy goals are: To learn Roman numerals by heart without a cheat sheet in MDR. To learn how to measure centimetres properly with a ruler in AWS. To learn whole number fractions properly in MDR. My writing goals are: Write blog posts without capitalization and punctuation errors. Improve sloping, letter sizes and spaces in handwriting. Get to level 3 or 4 in my writing matrix  by using speech marks correctly. My personal goals: Try to beat my time for at least 2 minutes in the block run. Do my best in my speech and reach the Hauraki Plains event. Yes, I am on track on my goals because I am trying my very best to achieve my goals. So far, my favour

The Olympics

The Olympics Tell us where the Olympics are being held this year. Tell us a few facts about this City (you may have to research!) How many sports are represented in the Olympics - list a few of them that are not that popular in NZ. What are you looking forward to watching and why? In the Olympics, New Zealand will be against other countries around the world.  The Olympics are being held in Rio. Rio is a huge seaside city in Brazil, famous for its beaches. It's Carnival festival, featuring parade floats, costumes, and samba is considered the world’s largest festival. Archery, Badminton, Table tennis and Boxing are some examples of sports held at the games. I am looking forward to seeing how New Zealand goes.

My holiday

My holiday My holiday is basically not a typical out of town holiday. But my favorite part is when we helped my Dad on the farm. I also like the time when we went shopping for my Dad’s birthday and I bought him  pajamas. There was a freaky part                                              when we were in The Warehouse then the alarm went on and I wasn’t with my parents and that really freaked Mum out. We gave Dad his presents and he was so delighted.

My PMI

Plus Minus Interesting I really liked the boat challenge because  I really like being creative and joining ideas in my group. I didn’t like  the egg drop challenge because  our headquarters got really messy because  of the sand. It was interesting how  my group was the first group to get the immunity idol. I really liked how our headquarters got to be the cave. I didn’t like the tic tac toe challenge  because  we had to run all the way. I think the  egg on the spoon challenge was interesting because  I could see people running while dropping the egg. I really liked how  our banner turned out because it’s crazy. I wasn’t impressed with our time 47 seconds  in the ball balancing challenge. I think the balloon challenge was interesting because even if we can’t do it yet, we were able to get 32cm.

String Art

Image
String Art I am up to putting the string on in string art. My template was originally a paw print but Mrs Lindsay said circles were hard so I just did a simple star. At first, hammering was hard but now I find it easier. I think the hardest part was putting the string on because every time I do a mistake, everything slips off. This is my finished product.

The Queen's Birthday

The Queen’s Birthday The Queen’s birthday is Queen Elizabeth’s birthday. It is also a public holiday in New Zealand. It is celebrated on the first Monday of June. The Queen’s birthday is different in all countries to fit each country’s public holiday spread. The Queen’s birthday is celebrated in New Zealand because New Zealand is a monarchy with Queen Elizabeth, the Queen of the United Kingdom being the head of the state. My plan for the long weekend is to have tea with my sister.

My Weekend

The beach- We went to the beach to have lunch with our cousins. We had sausages, rice, drinks and other meat. We had fun in the playground. We tried to do tricks on the swing, but not all of them worked. We went to the seesaw, and it didn’t work because I was too light.

PMI- IDRIVE

PMI-about IDRIVE (sewing) Plus Minus Interesting I am very happy about turning up with a good design. Planning what to sew was very hard because there were all sorts of fabric. It was very interesting because I finished half of my pillow and I’m very excited to see what it turns out to be. I am happy that I went to sewing because we get to pick the fabric we want. Since I had a nice design, I have to do lots of hand-sewing. It is interesting because I get to sleep with a new pillow.

I am most proud of,

I AM MOST PROUD OF, I am proud of my story starter because I put lots of effort in it. I was also proud of it because I put a little bit of humour in it. It has three chapters, long ones.

My Holiday

In the holidays, I went to Rotorua for my birthday and went to the Rotorua Museum. I thought the bathhouse story was creepy. Then we went to Skyline and went to the luge. Then, we went to Agroventures. I loved the shweeb the most because it was just like riding a bike while lying down.  We also went to the Agro jet . At the first round I  felt butterflies in my tummy but in the last two it was very fun.

NZ Debate

Image
ðŸ’Ÿ                                                             ☁ V . S If I could vote I would vote for the old New Zealand flag because it still has a lot of memories than the new New Zealand flag can’t have. I also love how the current flag is very easy to draw and it is very simple. I am very happy that the current New Zealand flag won because it won’t be the same with a new flag. Thank you for reading my opinion.

My Easter

Image
What is Easter Sunday?: Easter  is the celebration when Jesus Christ resurrects from the dead. What is good Friday?:Good Friday is when Jesus Christ died from Crucifixion in the cross. Since the Easter bunny doesn't arrive at home, I don’t really believe in it. I am really looking forward to Easter because it’s 21 days before my birthday. Hot cross buns are the kind of sweet buns that people eat in Easter. My family’s Easter tradition is we go to church from Wednesday to Sunday. I was wondering why there were hot cross buns in the shop in Easter but now I know why.

Candyland

Candyland is so great, in fact I got a toothache. It is so great don’t even need to trick or treat. I can even eat my pencil. I can also eat a branch of a tree. And I can eat my clock, I can drink the chocolate mud, mud, mud. Bed made of marshmallows. Don’t have to buy heaps of candy and no worries of veggies, some candies are impostors. Because sometimes they’re just veggies I hate veggies, I hate veggies oh! I just hate them! My notebook turns to ice cream, my desk turns to a- pumpkin? Candyland turns into veggieland? oh my! Where is Candyland?

My PMI week 6

plus               minus            Interesting I love how I went to the dentist. I didn’t like how I got worksheets that is due by next teacher meeting. Freetime in swimming after a few lengths was interesting. AWS was good because it was harder and a good challenge. MDR was a little bit harder so I didn’t like it. Getting help sheets was really interesting and we got to keep it for the whole year. It was fun making gliders in rotation. I made a glider with Tayla. I didn’t like it how I didn’t have that much time for IXL. I think having free time in swimming the whole session was interesting. And it was funny when the teacher said they were only blowing the pool toy because they were only getting them out of the pool.

My Swimming Sports 2016

My Swimming Sports 2016 In swimming sports, on the 24th  of February, I gave everything a go. I also came last at everything.  But to me, it wasn't all about winning, it was all about the fun! Well next year I would try my best to be 1st but it doesn't matter at all! Well, the only thing I didn't use a flutter board is breast stroke. But if you ask me, being told to do freestyle instead of backstroke was kind of embarrassing. And the worst part is I lost my goggles before breaststroke!
